How do you choose a new agenda or planner?

Hoe kies je een nieuwe agenda of planner?

Are you unsure which agenda or planner suits you best or are you unsure about your choice? Don't worry! To find out which agenda or planner from our range suits you best, we have listed a few questions for you, which you can ask yourself to determine which agendas and planners meet your requirements.

After all, your new agenda or planner should suit you well, you are of course planning to use your agenda or planner for at least a year and consult it several times a day. It would be a shame to choose an agenda or planner that does not meet your needs. That is why we advise you to take some time to think of an answer to the questions below.

The questions below are not in a fixed order of importance or as a step-by-step plan, feel free to arrange these questions in an order that makes the most sense to you. For example, for one person the layout of the interior is decisive, while for you, for example, the design of the cover might be more important.

What am I going to use my agenda or planner for?

Most of our customers use a standard agenda or planner to keep track of all their appointments, deadlines and to-do's. The vast majority of agendas and planners in our range fall under this heading and are suitable for anyone looking for an agenda or planner. So there is a good chance that if you are reading this blog, you can choose one of our standard agendas or planners. However, for some specific types of applications, we produce agendas and planners with a customised interior, so that they support you perfectly.

For business users, we offer a line of appointment calendars, which are ideal for (self-employed) entrepreneurs and are easy to use at work to keep track of all your meetings, deadlines and conferences. In this business line, the interior is provided with pre-printed times, which makes making and reviewing your appointments much easier and clearer.

Another category of agendas/planners that are equipped with a customized interior are our family agendas. In these, the interior is divided into separate columns with a separate row per week for each family member. This way, you can keep all important appointments and, for example, sports training and matches and appointments regarding hobbies clearly together for your entire family.

Which term suits me?

For many adults who are looking for a personal agenda, this question may seem redundant, because they think in calendar years. However, if you are a pupil or student, a teacher or want to make a plan for your family that follows the school year, then our agendas and planners from our school collections are perfect for you.

Every spring we release a new collection for the upcoming school year, with a term of approximately the end of May to the beginning of August of the following year.

In addition, we release a new collection every autumn for the coming calendar year, with a term from November to December of the following year.

Depending on your profession, position or family situation, you can adjust the duration of your agenda or planner accordingly.

Which size should I choose?

If a few lines a day are enough, a more compact A6-sized agenda may be sufficient. However, if you have busier days or want to make a more extensive schedule with possible notes in your agenda, we recommend that you consider choosing an A5-sized agenda or planner. If you want an even larger writing space, we definitely recommend that you take a look at our popular range of A4 agendas and planners.

Your answer to this question will not only determine the writing space you expect to need, but will also affect how easily you can take the diary with you everywhere. The larger your diary or planner is, the less easily you will be able to take it with you. If you plan to use your diary or planner only at home or at your workplace, a larger format diary, such as the A4 format, is ideal. However, if you want a diary that you can easily put in your jacket or trouser pocket, our A6 and mini diaries are much more suitable for you. Of course, a not unimportant factor is the weight of the diary.

Which binding method suits me?

This question is asked to our customer service department on a regular basis, but the answer to this question is very personal and difficult for someone other than yourself to answer. For our range, you can choose from what we call thread-bound agendas and spiral agendas (also called ring-bound agendas).

A (thread) bound diary can be seen as a reading book with a cover on the front and back and a sturdy spine. A spiral diary has no hard spine and is equipped with a metal spiral that runs through the spine of your diary or planner.

An advantage of a ring binder diary over a thread bound diary is that you can open it flat on a table or desk, without it automatically closing again. In addition, you can 'double fold' a spiral diary, so that you can easily hold it in one hand.

The advantage of a thread-bound diary is that, due to the absence of a spiral, it is a bit thinner, more resistant to falls or bumps and is slightly narrower than a ring binder diary with the same paper size.

Good to know: our thread-bound agendas always come with a handy ribbon, our spiral agendas (also called ring binder agendas) always come with a movable bookmark. Tip: you can also order extra loose bookmarks if you want to make multiple bookmarks.

Which layout should I choose?

In our collections, apart from a few special items, there are 2 different layouts to be recognized: vertical and horizontal. A diary or planner with a vertical layout (also called a calendarium) has a weekly layout with a separate vertical column for each day. A horizontal calendarium, on the other hand, offers a page-wide space for each day to note down your appointments and to-do's.

One type of layout is not necessarily better than the other, often the choice for a certain layout is based on the type of layout that someone has been used to for years. The choice of a layout is therefore again something personal, but some of our customers state that a vertical layout provides more structure in a day and in the week, because we read left to right and from bottom to top. Other customers prefer a horizontal layout, because they experience more writing space per day in this.

What type of cover should I choose?

Our agendas and planners are available in roughly 3 different types of covers: hard cover, soft cover and flexible covers.

The vast majority of agendas and planners in our collections have a hard cover, because this offers the most protection and can withstand a knock better. So if you want an agenda with a sturdy cover, you choose a hard cover agenda.

In addition, we offer a series of A6-format soft pocket agendas in our collections for a calendar year with, as the name suggests, a soft cover. The cover of this type of agenda is provided with a soft padded intermediate layer, which gives your agenda a premium luxury finish.

The last type of cover is the flexible cover, which means that the agenda has a flexible cover that is somewhat thinner and lighter than a hard cover or soft cover agenda. Some of these agendas are available with a flexible PVC cover with a pocket on the front, while other agendas that fall into this category have a paper cover.

Which design suits me?

Of course it is important that you like your own agenda or planner and that its appearance really suits you, you want to work with it and look at it with pleasure every day.

Luckily, we have made choosing a new diary or planner easy for you! Our collections are characterized by the large variety of available colors, prints and designs. Whether you like a modest and minimalistic design, or a very colorful print, we offer it all.
